Black moss as art installation for Restaurant Cuchara in Lommel. Chef Jan Toernier was looking for an artistic addition to improve the acoustics in his star business, without touching the existing decor. We developed various black moss strips floating above the tables and some horizontal moss frames in the wine room.
Jan Tournier, Jong Keukengeweld Chef and one of the Flanders Kitchen Rebels, is a chef with a vision and a clear identity. What appeals to us in this style is its uniqueness, away from the contemporary, simplistic, pure and very intense. A style that you do not experience anywhere else. It is his artistic approach with an eye for presentation and depth that makes this one of the country’s most interesting restaurants. And indeed … Lommel is closer than you might think!
The modern restaurant moved in its entirety to the rear of the existing house and creates a brand new restaurant experience. The new interior with impressive moss walls brings even more synergy with the dishes and the chef’s gastronomic works of art. Warm materials, moss, minimalist furniture and an impressive glass sculpture, called Root. You do not need more for an ideal culinary experience.
